Chances are, someone you know is a victim of domestic violence.  She may
be a relative, friend, neighbor, someone at work, or even a woman you have seen at church or synagogue.  Emphasize that she deserves a life that is free from
violence.  Confront her with the danger, remind her that even a push or
shove can result in serious injury or death.  Encourage her to develop a plan to
protect herself and her children.  Give her the number of the local shelter
or safe house for domestic violence.  Remind her that:

  •   She doesn't deserve it
  •   She can't control his choice to be abusive
  •   She's not crazy
  •   You're concerned for her safety
  •   It's not her fault
  •   She's not alone
  •   She is never responsible for his violence

Battering is a violent criminal act of power and control against a  woman.
It's important to remember that nothing a woman can do justifies violence
against her.
