Family Domestic Violence Services offers comprehensive services to persons affected by domestic violence. Our services include:
  • A 17 Bed Shelter for women and children in need of safe, emergency housing. Survivors receive support counseling, case management services, parenting services, and extensive referrals.
  • A Domestic Violence Court Advocate, stationed at the Ulster County Family Court, to assist survivors in obtaining orders of protection and emergency temporary custody of their children.
  • A multifaceted Children's Program which offers group and individual support counseling, as well as recreational and educational activities and referrals.
  • A free Clothing "Boutique" comprised of donated items for residents and ex-residents of the shelter.
  • A Food Pantry for ex-residents of the shelter.
  • Non Residential support counseling for both ex-residents and women who have never stayed at the shelter. Childcare is provided at no cost.
  • A Public Education program which supplies speakers on domestic violence to agencies, schools and community groups.
As the shelter is a communal living space that must be safe for everyone, there are rules that must be followed including: a curfew, shared chores, shared rooms, no use of alcohol or drugs. WE are 24-hour staffed and are here to help residents with any difficulties that come up. Our services include a children's program, case management, and extensive referrals. Residents are provided with necessities during their stay, such as: food, clothing, medication, diapers, formula, soap, shampoo...
